Nene Raju Nene Mantri: Rana One Man Show!

Nene Raju Nene Mantri has surprised everyone by leading this Friday’s race in terms of Advance Bookings. Though there were no hits for Teja from quiet a long time, it is interesting to see that his movies still evoke good expectations from audience. From the teasers and theatrical trailers, Nene Raju Nene Mantri is showcased as a political thriller with commercial elements. For Rana, it is the second time he is touching Political genres after his successful debut movie Leader. Interestingly Teja who launched Kajal through Lakshmi Kalyanam is directing her for the second time. With a gap of more than 10 years, Kajal has completed working in more than 50 movies. Nene Raju Nene Mantri is produced by D.Suresh Babu, Kiran Reddy and Bharat Chowdhary for Suresh Productions and Blue Planet Entertainments. Nene Raju Nene Mantri also has Navdeep, Ashutosh Rana, Shivaji Raja, SAnjay Kapoor, Bithiri Sathi, Raghu Karumanchi, Satya Prakash, Posani KRishna Murali, Pradeep Rawat, Jaya Prakash Reddy, Josh Ravi, Ajay and Thanikella Bharani. With such a huge ensemble of cast and a run time of 153 minutes , let’s see what Teja and team came up with.

Nene Raju Nene Mantri starts with a very interesting note and within 5 minutes, one will get attached to the proceedings. With no unnecessary hype or gimmicks, Teja tried to stick to the story and narrate it with no confusion. Movie Kicks off with Rana about to get hanged and he starts narrating his story to the media as per his last wish before being hanged. Rana (Jogendra) is a middle class guy happily married to Radha (Kajal) for three years and makes a living by lending money on interest. The couple are a happy lot when they come to know that they are going to become parents. Radha goes to a temple and offer her obeisance. A wife of a Panchayat President gets angry on Radha and pushes her down with force as she wanted to perform that ritual. Unfortunately, Radha loses pregnancy. This is the first instance when Jogendra loses his patience and starts taking over the system and all the anti-social political persons one by one. In this political journey, Jogendra reaches newer heights. Why is he being hanged and how he overcomes all the obstacles in his political career forms the basic premise of Nene Raju Nene Mantri.

The chemistry between Rana and Kajal clicked big time. We see a tragic climax in the end that is very apt for the movie. Catherine Teresa played a Media head and was successful in exploiting her glamour to an extent. Rana’s histrionics and his facial expressions comes as a surprise. He simply nailed it. Kajal is seen beautiful throughout the movie but it will be more nice if she puts on some weight. She looked skinny. Bithiri Sathi as the man telecasting Rana’s final wish was able to bring some laughs. All the villain characters played their roles well. A few of them like the vamp character was bit louder at times.

The major positive factors of Nene Raju Nene Mantri is its story, narration, climax and photography. Few scenes seemed illogical. The pre-climax episode where the whole public comes out in support of Jogendra is not properly directed. All the people in the front row opposite to the Police are seen tapping their hands against police shields which seemed very funny. In scenes like these, the director’s ability will be seen. Teja failed particularly in getting this scene perfectly executed. I had to mention this because it is extremely important in getting the climax episodes on screen to perfection when you have a solid climax written in the script.

Nevertheless, Teja succeeded in many areas and Nene Raju Nene Mantri is far far better than all his movies that released after Nijam.

Box Office Prospects: Movie Bells expects Nene Raju Nene Mantri to be a HIT at box office as it is made in a shoe string budget and will be released in Tamil and Telugu as well. Extended weekend is one of the major contributor to this movie’s commercial success.

Final Punch: Solid Story and Powerful climax. What could have been a Block buster will end as a Hit. Good effort from the team with a very relevant message.
