Paisa Vasool Movie Review: Even Fans can’t tolerate this!

Paisa Vasool Movie Rating : 1.75

– Ajaykumar Mudunuri for Movie Bells

Paisa Vasool starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, Shriya, Musskan and Kyra Dutt is directed by Puri Jagannadh and produced by V.Anand Prasad of Bhavya Creations. This is Nandamuri Balakrishna’s 101 movie after Gauthami Putra Shatakarni. After the teasers and theatrical trailers released, expectations were good for Paisa Vasool. The crazy combination of Puri Jagannadh and Balakrishna created good hype among Balayya babu’s fans. Puri Jagannadh who once delivered industry hits is on his career low now with back to back failures at the box office. His recent movies Jyothi Lakshmi, Loafer, Ism, and Rogue didn’t click at box office. His last hit was Temper with Jr. NTR. We will have to see if Paisa Vasool will bring him back to success track. Among the rest of the cast, Paisa Vasool also has Vikramjeet Virk, Kabir Bedi, Alok Jain and Prudhvi Raj. Music and back ground score is rendered by Anup Rubens while Mukesh G handled cinematography. Let’s get on with Paisa Vasool Movie Review.

Story (Spoiler’s ahead):

Bob Marley (Vikramjeet) avenges the death of his brother by killing all the persons responsible and will create havoc by targeting influential persons. He operates from Portugal and targets people in India. Kabir Bedi is the raw chief and advises Kiranmayi (Kyra Dutt), who is an ACP, to find a right guy capable of confronting with Bob Marley. Kiranmayi finds Theda Singh (Nandamuri Balakrishna) as the right guy who could fight against Bob Marley. Theda Sigh introduces himself as a just released prisoner who was convicted for several cases. Theda Singh meets Harika (Musskan) and gets close to her. Harika stays with her mother and is on search for her sister Sarika (Shreya) who went missing at Portugal. Harika is informed by Kiranmayi that Theda Singh is the right person to find about her sister Sarika. But Harika later realizes that Sarika is no more alive and Theda Singh is responsible for her sisters death. Theda Singh is shot by Harika and sent to Jail. Theda Singh then reveals his actual identity and the truth behind Sarika’s death. To know Theda Singh’s actual identity and the reasons he revealed on Sarika’s death mystery, one has to watch Paisa Vasool.

Artiste’s Performance: (Spoiler’s ahead)

It is Nandamuri Balakrishna show all the way. From scene 1 until the end titles, he has dominated the proceedings. Shreya is decent as a BBC journalist and is seen in the second half. Kyra Dutt gets introduced as a item girl and is later revealed as an ACP. She is ok in her role. Musskan is seen in a role of a middle class girl who is worried about her sister whereabouts. Kabir Bedi role is short in length and is average as RAW chief. Prudhviraj is a lawyer who gets bullied by Theda Singh and his comedy didn’t work much. Ali is seen in a very short role and is ok in one song, Mama ek peg la. Alok Jain as the corrupted minister was good. Rest of the cast had nothing much to do.

Technical Team:

Puri Jagannadh faltered in getting his act right. His story, screenplay and direction is a copy of his own earlier movies. Story and screenplay has striking resemblance to Pokiri that released 12 years back. After watching Paisa Vasool, things are pretty clear that Puri made this movie only for Balayya fans. This is what the interval slides and climax slides says. But in reality, even fans of Balayya will be disappointed at this age old story and predictable narration. Music and back ground score by Anup Rubens is average. Songs are catchy though. Cinematography by Mukesh G is decent. There is nothing to rave about Editing. It is similar to Puri’s earlier movies after Pokiri.

  • Coca Cola Song that comes in end titles.
  • Decent Cinematography.
  • Decent Music.

  • Age Old Story
  • Ages old Narration
  • Ages and Ages old Screenplay
  • Senseless Direction
  • Hybrid Villain Gang
  • Lots of Foreign flavor that doesn’t sink with Telugu nativity

Box Office Prospects:

Paisa Vasool might easily end up as a disaster at box-office. With a pre-release business of 32.5 crores, it will hardly do theatrical business in between 10 to 14 crores.

Final Punch: Just an humble advise – Puri Jagannadh, we need a latest version from you. We know you proved your credibility by directing some industry hits throughout these years and we enjoyed along with you. But how long will we see the same stuff again and again. It is time you get upgraded to your latest version and tell the audience that there is so much left in you. Else, we may bid Good Bye to you.
